This has been done to death
It was a joint agreement between the club, the PL and Sky as Sky want to show the game live as a celebration allowing the 100,000's of West Ham fans without tickets to be able to watch the last game.
It's the right and correct thing to do
You mean if they have a Sky subscription?

So you don't agree with what they have done but totally understand why they did it?
Now where have I heard those lines before?

Why couldn't the game just be put back to the Tuesday / Wednesday of the following week?

No, we asked. Clubs have to submit their request in before the fixtures are done.
You can't all sit around and have a chat about it.
I actually get why they did it for once, to allow fans who can't attend to watch but what I don't get is why they lied about it. Seems to be a worrying theme with club communications at every level aside from the playing side now OAF has gone.

You're not going to celebrate the last home match if it isn't actually the last home match.

To be fair, it may well have been a mutual decision in the end. Although if we were at home on the last weekend then it may well have been on the TV anyway as Sky/BT could hold back an extra slot probably.

The Premierleague fixture were asked live on radio why our game was not last. They replied that we asked for it to be.
I know who I would rather believe given our lot's track record.

Re: Last match could be Man United midweek

According to a Hugh Southon article last summer it was actually the Premier League who insisted on our last game of the season being away, quoting a PL source - “I think everybody across he country would want it on TV as a national event and on the last day other issues may get in the way of that.”
Yes, I know it's Hugh Southon, but still I would imagine that the PL and Sky/BT would both be very much into the idea and bring pressure to bear on WHU to do this.

No they ASKED the PL fixture people to make sure we were the PENULTIMATE game of the season so they could coin some TV revenue.
They then tried to lie about it.
There was no assumption.
